SURFACE LOGIX APPOINTS SCHERING EXECUTIVE, MARC RUBIN, M.D., TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

BOSTON , Mass. (September 20, 2005) - Surface Logix announced today the appointment of Marc Rubin , M.D. to the Company’s Board of Directors. As a member of the Board, Dr. Rubin will provide strategic advice on the Company’s pipeline of new drugs and guidance on advancing new drugs through the clinical development process.

Marc Rubin , M.D. is a member of the Board of Executive Directors of Schering AG, and Vice Chairman and President of Development at Schering Berlin Inc with responsibility for Worldwide Development within the Schering Group. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Schering Oy, Finland. Dr. Rubin trained in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Hospital , and in the sub specialties of Infectious Diseases and Oncology at the National Institutes of Health. He then served on the senior staff of the Infectious Diseases Section of the National Cancer Institute. Dr. Rubin joined Glaxo, Inc. (now GlaxoSmithKline and formerly GlaxoWellcome) in 1990 where he held various positions of increasing seniority, most recently Senior Vice President, Global Clinical Pharmacology, & Discovery Medicine, prior to joining Schering AG in 2003. Dr. Rubin is board certified in internal medicine, oncology and infectious diseases. He did his undergraduate training at Cornell University , and received an MD from Cornell University Medical College .
